Abstract

The purposes of this study were;
1. to develop the Short-Form Korean Pain Rating Scale(KPRS)
2. to identify the relationship between the Original KPRS and Short-Form KPRS. The study is based on data collected from 705 patients among those who are suffered from acute and chronic pain.
The Original KPRS was used to measure the pain and to develop the Short-Form KPRS vas used frequency with patient¢¥s response. The Pearson Correlation Coefficient was employed to identify relationship.
The outcome of this study was as follows;
1. The component of the Short-Form KPRS consists of 20 pain items with 20 subclasses.
2. The significant correlation did exist between two pain measurement tools. (r=0.3143^ 0.7823, p=0.000^0.029) it
Based on the above results, it was found that the Short-Form KPRS showed promise as a
useful tool in situations in which the Original KPRS task too long to administer.
However, replication studies are needed to determine the relative strengths and weakness
of the Short-Form KPRS in the future.
